The Medical Office Coding Program will prepare students for employment in a hospital or physician’s office or enhance coding skills of those currently employed with emphasis on skills in coding for reimbursement and the coder’s role in the revenue cycle. Students will be eligible to complete the American Health Information Management (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam.
Career opportunities for medical coders are excellent. Certified medical coders will
find employment opportunities in hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, physician
offices, and other types of health care organizations. In addition, medical coders
can work with third party agencies such as insurance companies, state and federal
regulatory agencies, and health care vendors.
