Industry Based Certifications (IBC). An IBC is a credential offered by an industry that documents an individual has successfully met the skill and knowledge standards established by that industry for a single occupational area, or a cluster of related occupational areas such as nursing or computer technology. The credential is based on business and industry standards. Many of the Industry Based Certifications can be earned by technical and community college students who complete a course or program that meets the industry created standards and successfully pass the certification exam.
