Phone Status Updates

Update #5

The telephone system cutover has successfully completed. While this process has restored our telephony system to a normal state, it may not be without some individual lingering issues.

If you are still experiencing some abnormality with your phone set operation, please let us know. For issues related to this particular telephone incident, please call the OIT Helpdesk at 504-671-5500 or email us at dcchelpdesk@dcc.edu for assistance. Staff are standing by to assist. All other telephone matters should continue to be addressed through the regular OIT Helpdesk ticketing process.

Again, our sincerest apology for this unforeseen circumstance and inconvenience. We thank you for your continued patience throughout this process. It is greatly appreciated.

A special thank you to all of the Delgado departments and teams who assisted us with the communication process, as it certainly was a team effort.

Update #4

The rebuild of our core telephony infrastructure for the affected platform has been completed. The vendor is now ready to cutover which means that all phone service must be shutdown for an estimated two hours. Given the current degradation of telephone services, the cutover process will begin on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 7:00 a.m. Please be aware that during this period, there will not be any landline telephone service at the college. Until such time that regular telephone services are restored, you may reach Delgado's Campus Police Department by dialing 504-818-6254 from a cellphone or non-DCC landline.

Your continued patience is very much appreciated during this process of restoring our telephony services to normal. We will advise you when the cutover has been completed.

Update #3

Unfortunately, we continue to experience telephone issues. Overnight our vendor partners were able to complete the rebuild of the core infrastructure that was affected for this telephony platform. Now, work continues to install and deploy needed applications and administrative components of the platform.

While not with complete functionality, we have been able to get telephony service to a number of college areas. The college’s main number, 504-671-5000, is receiving calls.

Our teams continue work towards reestablishing full telephony services to the college as soon as reasonably possible. It is with cautious optimism and anticipation that this platform will be restored by our return to work next week.

Update #2

As some of you may have noticed by now, a temporary solution to our current telephone issue has been implemented. This temporary solution should render most college telephones operational with a few exceptions. We continue to work with our vendor partners for the permanent resolution.

Update #1

Please be apprised that we continue to experience telephone issues. The staff has been working through the night with our telephone partners trying to get a resolution.  Unfortunately, it has been determined that one of our telephony platforms must be rebuilt. Our partners continue to work on this restoration.

The good news of this situation is that most remote sites, with the exception of the Jefferson site, should be able to receive incoming calls and make outbound calls.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and untimeliness of this situation. However, it is a circumstance beyond our control. Know that our teams are working as expeditiously as possible to bring about restoration and continue to explore any possible temporary solution in this matter.
