Admission Requirements

Delgado Community College is an open admissions college; however acceptance into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) Program is by selection.  The Admissions Committee for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) Program reviews and evaluates each application on an impartial basis.  Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into the program.

Students wishing to apply for admission to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) Program must submit a completed Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) Programs application to the Division of Allied Health NO LATER THAN MAY 15.

Applicants who are eligible for admission to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound) program must meet the following criteria:

• Be a graduate of a 2 year accredited allied health occupation program such as
  • Registered nurse
  • Radiologic technology
  • Occupational therapist
  • Medical therapist
       
• OR have at least 60 credit hours of post secondary education
   
• Previous or additional coursework must include selected courses
  • And possess a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 including all colleges attended.

Upon completion of prerequisite courses, the student should request the current complete information and application packet from the Allied Health Admissions Office.
