About the Program

Dialysis technicians are trained to operate medical equipment that helps cleanse the blood of patients who have kidney problems.  The technician must monitor the patient undergoing treatment and must also ensure the machinery is in good working condition.

The Delgado Dialysis Technician Course is a letter of completion course which consists of 11 credit hours of combined didactic and clinical education.  The didactic component of the course will be taught during the evening hours.  The clinical practicum may include both day and evening hours.  Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible to take the hemodialysis exam for technicians given by the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT).
