About the Program

An Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic is qualified to administer advanced emergency medical care in the pre-hospital setting. Working as a Paramedic on emergency medical response vehicles is a challenging, exciting, and satisfying career. Paramedics are on the front line of medical care for patients who are ill or injured. For the individual who prefers action and variety, there is always a new experience and an opportunity to contribute to the community's quality of life.

Skills of an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic include the interpretation of electrocardiograms, defribillation, intravenous therapy, administration of appropriate medications, endotracheal intubation, and other advanced life support, patient assessment, and patient care techniques.

Students who complete the EMT basic course and pass their registration exam can be employed as EMTs. Students wishing to apply for the advanced EMT programs must be Licensed EMTs.
