Career Opportunities Although health information technicians are employed primarily in the medical record/health information department of hospitals, there are increasing opportunities with other health care facilities, such as physician offices, home health care agencies, health maintenance organizations, outpatient clinics (medical, surgical, psychiatric), hospice facilities, nursing homes, and educational organizations.
