About the Program

The Delgado Medical Coding Certificate of Technical Studies (CTS) is a new program providing a quality curriculum supported by faculty from a consortium of Health Information Management and Technology programs accredited by the CAAHEP and AHIMA to produce qualified medical coders for Louisiana.  The consortium faculty are from Delgado Community College, Louisiana Tech University, Southern University at Shreveport, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, providing credentialed, experienced and educationally prepared instructors for this certificate so that students will be optimally prepared for the workplace.  Upon completion of the CTS, students will be eligible to apply to write the national qualifying examination for certification as a Certified Coding Associate (CCA).  The successful completion of the examination will entitle an individual to use the credentials of a Certified Coding Associate, CCA.  The credentials, CCA, are recognized throughout the United States and will not require an additional examination if an individual moves to another state.
