How do you apply for admission to the Medical Coding CTS Program?
Delgado Community College is an open admissions college; however, acceptance into the Medical Coding
Program is by selection. The Admissions Committee for the MCC Program reviews and evaluates each application on an
impartial basis. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into the program. Students wishing to
apply for admission to the Medical Coding Program must submit a completed Medical Coding Program application to the
Division of Allied Health NO LATER THAN APRIL 30.
To be eligible for admission to the Medical Coding program students must:
1. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 in all college courses and a grade of “C” or
better in prerequisite English, Science, Math, Speech, Health Sciences, and HEIT courses. Grade point
averages are calculated on the basis of all courses taken, including those repeated.
4. Be able to meet the program’s technical standards.
5. Have completed or in the process of completing Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Basic
Pathophysiology/Pharmacology, and Information Management for Allied Health Professionals with a grade
of a “C” or better.
NOTE: Science courses over 10 years will require repetition. Check with the Allied Health Admissions Advisor.
