ALLIED HEALTH

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Delgado Community College is divided into two parts:

• Prerequisite Courses, which include general education and required related courses
• PTA Component, which includes all the PTA courses  

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED RELATED COURSES:

**Prerequisites for BIOL 251/253 are BIOL 141/143 or departmental permission.

NOTE: Science courses over 10 years old may require repetition. Check with the Allied Health Admissions counselor.

REQUIRED COURSE IN MAJOR:

The PTA component of the program begins in August of each year and consists of THREE SEMESTERS OF FULL-TIME, DAY-TIME class work and clinical experiences. The final summer semester of the program is spent in full-time clinical affiliations and may require travel to facilities outside the New Orleans area.
