About the Program

Respiratory Care Technology is the application of scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of cardiopulmonary care. Delgado's Respiratory Technology Program provides the training needed for the advanced level, respiratory therapist Associate of Applied Science degree.

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) works with patients who require assistance so that normal breathing and heart-lung functions will be restored. Oxygen is administered by the RRT who follows the orders of a physician.

Completion of the program makes the student eligible to take the registry (RRT) credentialing examinations.

The Respiratory Care Technology Program at Delgado Community College is accredited by the The Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
