A Surgical Technologist works with surgeons, anesthetists, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care and providing a safe environment. The surgical technologist assumes appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery.

Delgado's Surgical Technology Program is a one-year certificate program which admits two classes each year. Graduates are qualified to sit for the national certification examination administered by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist (LCC-ST).

The Surgical Technology certificate program at Delgado Community College is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
