Welcome to Delgado Technical Division Sites

Dear Students:

With fall 2010 semester comes some great news:  Effective Aug. 15, 2010, Louisiana Technical College (LTC) Region 1 officially becomes Delgado Community College’s Technical Division!  This exciting change is the result of legislation, Act 521, which was enacted during the 2009-2010 State of Louisiana legislative session to transfer all LTC Region 1 programs, courses, resources and personnel to Delgado.

What does this mean for you?  It means that you will be a student of Delgado Community College, the largest higher education institution in the Greater New Orleans region, and the second-largest (only to Louisiana State University) in the state. More important, it means you will be attending a college that can provide you with the region’s highest quality and most comprehensive, cohesive and accessible range of education options, training programs and services.

Through Delgado’s Technical Division, you can still receive the very best in technical training to prepare you for in-demand careers and job advancement. As well, as a student of Delgado Community College, you also have the option of taking advantage of the many education opportunities, facilities, resources, services and activities offered to students as part of the full community college experience.

As LTC Region 1 becomes Delgado Technical Division on Aug. 15, a number of key changes are occurring.  Please take note of the following important information, and review the sections of this web site, about some of those changes.

Tuition

Act 915, which became law on June 14, 2008, authorizes state colleges and universities to increase their tuition.  Under this law, Delgado’s tuition and certain student fees will increase beginning in fall 2010. Therefore new, transfer and re-admit students of the former LTC Region 1, which becomes Delgado Technical Division on Aug. 15, 2010, will pay Delgado Community College’s increased tuition rate and appropriate fees beginning in fall 2010 semester.

There will be an exception, however, for continuing students of the former LTC Region 1. For the remaining classes needed to complete the program in which they were enrolled as of spring 2010 semester, continuing students of the former LTC Region 1 will pay the LTC Region 1 tuition rate that was in effect before the merger.
