DEGREE: CERTIFICATE OF GENERAL STUDIES
DIVISION: ARTS AND HUMANITIES

The Certificate of General Studies is designed to provide students with a broad foundation of fundamental academic courses. It offers students the opportunity to increase readiness for collegiate study while exploring career pathways. It allows students who intend to transfer to senior colleges the opportunity to choose courses that meet the admissions requirements of the receiving institution.

Students should meet with a General Studies advisor to determine an educational plan.

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS


For transferability to most four year institutions, students should substitute a higher level MATH course for

  • ENGL 101 - English Composition I 3

  • ENGL 102 - English Composition II 3

  • MATH 118 - Algebra for College Students 3

  • Fine Arts Requirement 3

  • Humanities Requirement 3

  • Natural Science Requirement 3

  • Social/Behavioral Science Requirement 3
