WEST BANK CAMPUS

Welcome Letter

Dr. Alley

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Welcome to a new exciting adventure and learning experience at Delgado Community College’s West Bank Campus! We are so happy you are either returning to our family or joining our family for the first time.  We hope you continue with us and provide feedback so we can improve our services to you.

We are working on several new initiatives to enhance your educational experience.  We are talking with Federal City to see if there are ways we can partner with them to offer a variety of services like childcare and expanded wellness programs.  We have partnered with LSU Health Care Services so our students, faculty and staff, insured and uninsured, can utilize the medical facility located on the other side of the campus in O. Perry Walker High School.  The clinic will be in operation by December, according to LSU.  As soon as it is open, we will distribute flyers so you and your families can have access to adequate health care, including necessary vaccinations, mammograms and eye care.  All of this will be available with most insurances, and free or at minimal cost to the uninsured.

We want to offer more complete programs on this campus, and if you have suggestions, please drop them in the suggestion box right inside the door of the Provost’s Office.  We promise to review your comments and seriously consider the viable ones for implementation.

I am beginning my 10th year as the Provost of this campus and each year it just gets better and better.  Our purpose is to provide you with the best education and training you can possibly receive.  I have said before and will say again: if it hadn’t been for the community college in my small town, I would not have been able to continue in college.  I believe the two years I spent at the community college was a great equalizer and allowed me to get where I am today.  My mother worked and raised two children without a father.  We didn’t have a car and lived in a five room house with my father’s parents.  I understand being “needy” and “wanting to better oneself.”  My community college helped me to become focused on what I wanted to do in life.

Delgado is here to help anyone who wants to learn.  Whether you are here for education or workforce/career training and development, then establish your priorities and commit to becoming the best that you can be.

Thank you for including Delgado West Bank Campus in your plans for strengthening your life!  We need you and appreciate you!  If my office staff can be of any help, please do not hesitate to visit, even just to say hello.  My office is located in LaRocca Hall, Room 142.  My Administrative Assistant is Ms. Sherlyn Henry-Lambert, the Assistant to the Provost is Ms. Jerrie Protti and I am Dr. Donna Warford-Alley.  Congratulations on your choice to continue your learning at Delgado!

Faculty and Staff, welcome back and I know you will continue to serve students in the best ways possible.  Thank you for being you!

Respectfully,
Donna Warford-Alley, Ed.D., Provost
