How To Apply
FOR BEGINNING STUDENTS
STEP 1! To complete the FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Aid, you must register for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
1. Read the welcome page.
2. Select "APPLY NOW" Note: this application is for students and parents (of dependent students) who do not already
have a PIN.
3. Enter Personal Information.
4. Submit your application.
5. Receive your PIN!
STEP 2! Complete your FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
1.Complete the entire application (enter "0" if not applicable).
2. Enter Delgado's school code 004626 in "School Selection".
3. Sign the application with your PIN (and your parents, if dependent).
4. Once all required information has been entered, submit your application.
5. When Federal Student Aid notifies you that your FAFSA has been PROCESSED,
You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR).
*Please allow 5-7 business days after the receipt of SAR for DCC to retrieve your information.
STEP 3! Check your Student Self Serve or the Answer Center.
1. If you are selected for verification additional documents may be requested.
*The documents being requested of you will be located under Registration Status on your Student Self Serve.
*Requested documents are located at www.dcc.edu on the Financial Aid homepage under "forms"
2.Your DCC Financial Assistance Counselor will make any necessary corrections.
3. When your application is completely processed by DCC Financial Assistance Counselor, you will receive an award letter by mail.**
- If you are accepting a loan for the first time, you are required to complete Entrance Counseling and electronically sign a Mastery Promissory Note (MPN) online at http:// www.studentloans.gov
Continuing Students:
* If you had a PIN before and lost or forgot it, you may "Request A Duplicate PIN" from the home page.
* If you believe your PIN has been compromised, used without your permission, you may "Change My Pin" from the home page as well.
* If you disabled your PIN, it may be reestablished by selecting "Reestablish My PIN" from the home page.
* January 1 of each year students can begin to re-new their FAFSA for the next academic year. Log onto the FAFSA website at www.fafsa.ed.gov, update info, add school code, and sign with your pin.
Transfer Students:
*If you have already completed a FAFSA for your present school, log back onto that FAFSA, add Delgado’s school (004626), sign with your pin and submit
*If you have never complete a FAFSA, following directions for beginning student.
** Students may accept all or just a part of the Financial Assistance offer. If students fail to sign and return their award letters to our office within 10 working days, the offer of assistance might be withdrawn and the funds offered to another needy student. If that happens, and students wish to reinstate their applications, the effective date of the new applications will be the date on which students request that the applications be reinstated.
Note: After submitting all requested documents, if students have not been notified within 30 days of their award status, they may make an appointment to speak with their financial aid counselor.
