Grants

 

Federal Pell Grantsrange from $890 to $4,731 (2008-2009) for the academic year. This program is awarded based on financial need determined by the federal government. The amount awarded depends on the student’s eligibility assessed through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA).
 
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG) students can receive up to $500 per academic year. Students must be enrolled for at least 6 credit hours and must be eligible for a Pell Grant. Due to limited funding, awards are issued on a first come-first serve basis to eligible students.
 
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) Enrollment Requirements

1st academic year undergraduate students must have completed a rigorous as recognized by the Secretary of Education secondary school program established by a state or local education agency after January 1, 2006 and, not have previously enrolled in an undergraduate education program.

 
2nd academic year undergraduatestudents must have completed a rigorous as recognized by the Secretary of Education secondary school program established by a state or local education agency after January 1, 2005. Students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and earn a minimum of 24 credits at the conclusion of the first year of undergraduate education.
Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Grant (LEAP) state-funded grant awarded to undergraduate Louisiana residents demonstrating financial need and meeting certain academic criteria. Awarded fall and spring semesters. Limited funded.
 
 
GO GRANT
The Go Grant was implemented in the Fall 2007 semester. The purpose of this program is to provide a need-based component to the state’s financial aid plan to support nontraditional and low to moderate-income students who need additional aid to afford the cost of attending college. The award amount ranges from $500 to $2,000 annually. Eligibility requirement and additional informational information is available on the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) website (www.osfa.state.la.us) or by telephone (1-800-259-5626, ext. 1012).
