Introduction to Short Stories and Novels will reveal to students the wonderful world of reading fiction. Students will read closely a variety of short stories and novels throughout the semester, discuss literary elements, and learn how to analyze and synthesize the themes and ideas found within each individual story. In this class students will learn to recognize plot, climax, conflict and resolution, along with the literary devices that are employed by individual authors. A research paper or project will be required. This course is transferable, and is offered every semester, except Intersession. Prerequisite: āCā or better in ENGL 102.
