Bob Lawyer



Bob Lawyer has been teaching at Delgado since 1980 in both psychology and sociology.  He earned his BA (1972) and MA (1974) at Ohio University in sociology and did additional graduate work in psychology at Xavier University and the University of New Orleans.  Prior to teaching at Delgado, he was a teaching assistant at Ohio University and later taught as an adjunct there before moving to New Orleans.  He also has clinical experience in the prison system in Ohio where he conducted both individual and group therapy sessions, including drug therapy for adult male felons.  He was also on the staff at River Oaks Psychiatric Hospital for a number of years where he worked as a counselor.  While at Delgado, he developed the Human Growth and Development course and more recently the course in Human Sexuality.  He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Sociological Association.  He was awarded the Seymour Weiss Excellence in Teaching Award in 2003.
