Lean Training Objectives for Students
- Familiarize participant with lean concepts and how the lean elements, rules, and tools interact.
- Provide the participant with an understanding of how lean concepts can be applied to the different operational departments of a healthcare organization and how to gain buy-in from senior leaders and front line staff.
- Explain in detail how lean concepts will substantially improve the operating and financial performance of any business.
- Provide the participant with a stronger ability to recognize and eliminate waste in processes.
- Participants will learn how to determine value added versus non-value added activities.
- Provide the participant with the essential tools to better understand process (patient) flow and the pull system.
- Provide the participant with a broad understanding of key lean tools including 5S, Single minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) or quick changeover, Kanban, Visual Workplace, Error Proofing and Scheduling.
- Provide the participant with an understanding of lean metrics and how to determine what information should be measured.
- Provide the participant with the fundamentals behind "standardized work" and how it’s used to eliminate process variation.
- How to identify the value stream or area that requires improvement.
- Provide the participant with a better understanding of policy deployment and its role in any lean implementation process.
- Our participants will learn in detail the Kaizen process and how to use this process to foster a lean culture.
- The participant will know how and have the ability to:
o Develop a lean road map
o Develop an implementation plan
o Present the information to senior leadership

1. CI-100 Company Baseline Evaluation - 2 half days (8Hours)
(Two half day workshops / Learn how to identify the company's strengths and weaknesses and how to effectively address those opportunities. )

2. CI-140 Lean Healthcare Executive Overview - 1/2 day (4 Hours)
(Half day work shop / executives and managers will learn the principles of lean and how to apply them to their business strategy to increase productivity and profitability.)

3. CI-200 Lean Healthcare Basics Training - 1 day (8 Hours)
(Half day work shop / learn the principles of lean and how to apply them in the workplace environment to begin your continuous improvement journey.)

4. CI-210 5S System - 1 day (8 Hours)
(One day workshop / learn the concepts of the 5S system and then apply them to transform a cluttered, disorganized area into a clean, organized and orderly workplace.)

5. CI-220 Workplace Organization - 1 day (8 Hours)
(One day workshop / learn the concepts of the 5S system and then apply them in the office, hospital department, or area to transform a cluttered, disorganized area into a clean, organized and orderly workplace.)

6. CI-250 Kaizen Event Training- 2 days (16 Hours)
(Two day training course, customized training to provide the customer advanced training needs to maintain a lean enterprise. The benefits of this course include the following: reduce cycle time, increase profits, reduce inventory, increase employee satisfaction, reduce costs, increase customer satisfaction, increase capacity, improve quality, improve lead time, and increase productivity.)

7. CI-500 Value Stream Mapping - 2 days (16 Hours)
(Two day workshop / learn to use the powerful value stream mapping tool to create a current state map and find non-value added and value added activities. Also develop an implementation plan for eliminating non-value added activities.)

8. CI-800 Strategic Planning Overview - 1/2 day (4 Hours)
(This is a customized half day overview of the strategic planning process, including mission statement, vision statement, objectives, strategy formulation, and implementation strategies.)

9. CI-820 Strategic Planning - 4 days (32 Hours)
(This is a customized training of the strategic planning process separated into eight 4 hour training sessions. The instructor will facilitate training to assist in developing a mission statement, vision statement, objectives, strategy formulation, and implementation strategies.)

10. CI-840 Lean Leadership - 1 day (8 Hours)
(This customized training will provide leaders the ability to understand the Lean principles and be able to maintain the transformation. The fundamentals of Lean and the ability to influence and change the mindsets and behaviors of the hospital employees to embrace lean.)

11. CI-850 Lean Healthcare Certification - 5 day (40 Hours)
(This customized training will provide a thorough understanding of all lean concepts. Our facilitators have a successful, hands-on practical experience implementing lean methodologies and principles and our curriculum is filled with examples, photographs, quizzes, tests, case studies, and interactive exercises).
