SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION & PROCEDURES



 

Honors Scholarship


Award Value:

  • All tuition and fees per semester (four semesters, summer excluded) Total award in excess of $4,400
Criteria:
  • A graduate from a Louisiana state approved high school
  • Home school applicants must have completed a Louisiana approved or regionally accredited program
  • ACT composite score of 22 and GPA 3.00 on a 4.00 scale OR ACT composite score of 20 and GPA 3.5 on a 4.00 scale
       (ACT SCORES: English 18+, Math 18+ and Reading 17+)
  • Placement into college level courses (excluding Developmental Studies and ESL courses)
To Maintain Eligibility:
  • Enroll into at least one honors course each semester
  • Successfully complete at least 12 hours of college level classes per semester
  • Maintain a 3.40 cumulative GPA
  • Pursuing a degree or certificate


Academic Scholarship


Award Value:

  • $700 per semester (four semesters, summer excluded) Total award of $2,800
Criteria:
  • A graduate from a Louisiana state approved high school
  • Home school applicants must have completed a Louisiana approved or regionally accredited program
  • ACT composite score of 20
       (ACT SCORES: English 18+, Math 18+ and Reading 17+) 
  • GPA 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
  • Placement into college level courses (excluding Developmental Studies and ESL courses)
To Maintain Eligibility:
  • Successfully complete at least 12 hours per semester (excluding Developmental Studies and ESL courses)
  • Maintain a cumulative 3.00 GPA
  • Pursuing a degree or certificate


Leadership Scholarship


Award Value:

  • $400 per semester (four semesters, summer excluded) total award of $1,600
Criteria:
  • A graduate from a Louisiana state approved high school
  • Home school applicants must have completed a Louisiana approved or regionally accredited program
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills (e.g. student government, school paper editor, club officer, etc.)
  • Minimum GPA 2.5 on 4.0 scale
To Maintain Eligibility:
  • Successfully complete at least 12 hours per semester
  • Maintain 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Participation in a Delgado Student Organization (verified annually)
  • Pursuing a degree or certificate


Music Scholarship (City Park Campus only)

 

Award Value:

  • Ranging from $100 to $400 per semester (four semesters, summer excluded)
Criteria:
  • A graduate from a Louisiana state approved high school
  • Home school applicants must have completed a Louisiana approved or regionally accredited program
  • Competitive GPA and ACT scores
  • Audition required
To Maintain Eligibility:
  • Successfully complete at least six hours per semester (excluding Developmental Studies and ESL courses)
  • Participation in Delgado’s Chorus, or Jazz Ensemble
  • Maintain 2.00 cumulative GPA


 

Adult Learner Scholarships

 

Award Value:

  • Pays $400 for four semesters, not including the summer semesters (for students taking 12 or more credit hours) Full-Time Students
  • Pays $200 for four semesters, not including the summer semesters (for students taking less than 12 hours) Part-Time Students
Criteria:
  • To be eligible to apply, students must have passed Delgado’s ATB test or have a high school diploma or GED and have been out of high school for at least 5 years.
To Maintain Eligibility:
  • If awarded the scholarship, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA for the duration of the scholarship award period.


 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must have a completed admission application on file before applying for a scholarship.
  • Completed scholarship application
  • Submit a copy of your 7th semester transcript.
  • Completed Reference Verification Form
  • Submit ACT Scores to scholarships@dcc.edu or fax to 504-483-1895.

Applicants applying for a scholarship are encouraged to file the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1 of the year in which they plan to attend to determine eligibility for Federal financial assistance. The Delgado Community College code is 004626.

In an effort to provide financial assistance to the greatest number of students, a student may receive a maximum of non federal funds equal to tuition/fees and books/supplies awarded through Delgado Community College.
