Delgado Provides Training to Child Care Workers |
|
Delgado
Community College is partnering with two United Way
agencies—the early childhood education advocacy group
Success by 6 and the Women’s Leadership Initiative—to
provide training that will enable Orleans Parish child
care centers to earn accreditation from the National
Association for the Education of Young Children.
Faculty members from Delgado will lead classes for
child care workers. The instruction will include
safety, brain development and learning trends of the
very young. This course is part of the preparation
required for Child Development Associate (CDA) National
Credentialing Program for child care workers.
“Delgado responded by offering training to 16 child care
workers at Royal Castle Day Care at a time that is
conducive to their work schedules. We continue to meet
the needs of our students and employers by being
flexible and accessible,” said Malayne DeMars, director
of Workforce Development and Training Initiatives.
