Delgado and Loyola Sign Articulation Agreement

Loyola University New Orleans and Delgado Community College signed a historic articulation agreement on September 28.  Participating in the articulation signing was Fr. Kevin Wildes, S.J., president of Loyola; Dr. Alex Johnson, chancellor of Delgado; and Dr. Walter Harris, Jr., Loyola provost.

This articulation agreement is a culmination of 17 years of Loyola University and Delgado Community College administrators collaborating to develop a course transfer guide and program articulations that help Delgado students transition into Loyola’s baccalaureate degree programs.  Associate deans from the four undergraduate colleges at Loyola consulted their respective faculties to determine how academic courses listed in Delgado’s 2003-2004 Catalog paralleled those offered at Loyola.  Those efforts, held in conjunction with select Delgado faculty members and administrators, led to the development of a new course-by-course transfer guide, leading to articulated programs.

Articulations for Delgado associate degree programs have been established with undergraduate degree programs housed in Loyola’s City College.  Articulation agreements exist for the following Delgado—Loyola City College programs

-Delgado Associate of Science (AS) in Management to the Loyola Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Human and Organizational Development

-Delgado AS in Business Administration to the Loyola BAS in Human and Organizational Development

-Delgado AS in Nursing to the Loyola Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

-Delgado Associate of Arts (AA) in Criminal Justice to the Loyola Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ) in Criminal Justice

-Delgado Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Computer Information Technology to the Loyola Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Computer Information Science

-Delgado Associate of General Studies (AGS) to theLoyola Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) in Humanities

The Apple Tree Opens October 21

The Theatre Department of Delgado Community College will present the hilarious musical, The Apple Tree, from October 21 through October 31.  Written by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, the composer and lyricist team that created Fiddler on the Roof, The Apple Tree is actually three one-act musicals.

Act One is based on Mark Twain’s short story, The Diary of Adam and Eve.  Mr. Twain has a unique take on this classic troy that concerns the typical male and female struggles in a relationship.

The Second Act, The Lady or the Tiger, by Frank R. Stockton’s story, shows an unusual style of justice, letting the accused determine his method of punishment from choosing what’s behind a door, the lady or the tiger?

The third act is a classic Cinderella story by Jules Feiffer.  In this case, a chimney sweep becomes Passionella, a ”beautiful, glamorous movie star” with the help of her Fairy Godmother.  But does this transformation fulfill her? That is the question!

Directed by Tim Baker, The Apple Tree features Troy Poplous as the Snake/Balladeer/Narrator and Dreux Lawes as Adam/Captain Sanjar and Flip, the Prince Charming.  The three women of the stories will be taken on by Idella Johnson as Eve, Lori Christopher as Princess Barbara and Dana Webb as Passionella.

Performances are at 8pm October 21, 22, 23 and 27, 28, 29 and 30th.  Matinees are at 3 p.m. on October 24 and 31.  Ticket prices are14 for general admission, $12 for senior citizens and $8 for Delgado students, faculty and staff.  Performances are in the third floor Drama Hall of Building 1 on the City Park Campus.
