Moss Memorial Library Celebrates National Library
Week |
|
During
National Library Week, April 11-16, Delgado Community
College’s City Park Campus Moss Memorial Library will
host a series of database workshops.
The
Library staff invites Delgado administrators, faculty,
staff and students to visit the library and discover the
many research databases available. The college library
sleuths in the Reference Department are ready to assist
with investigations. Their aim is to increase
participants’ skills in finding and retrieving
information independently.
In
addition to the workshops, the library will waive
overdue book fines for those who bring in non-perishable
item donations for NO/AIDS Task Force.
The
Reading Department joins the library in sponsoring a
free book giveaway also held during National Library
Week. Books from the Jefferson Parish library sale
will be available on a first come basis until they are
gone. The books will be in Delgado Hall, room 221 W
(next to the Reading Computer Lab) and at the Library
entrance.
During
the month of April, the Delgado Campus Libraries will
conduct the annual Library Patron survey. Please visit
the website at

attend the first Addison-Wesley Developmental
Mathematics Forum held in Boston, Massachusetts
on February 26. The forum included round

Mathematics Flexible Learning Center,
the Fast Track Program, the Math Lab, and the
By-Pass options.

Wes Payne,
dean of Business, Technology and Mathematics,
West Bank Campus, presented "Assessing Student
Learning Outcomes Across the Curriculum"
workshop to River Parishes Community College
faculty on March 11. Payne's presentation

emphasis has shifted from evaluating processes
and outputs to student learning outcomes as
emphasized in the Principles. Mr. Payne's
lengthy teaching experience enabled him to use
practical applications that appeal to teaching
faculty members. His workshop was
interactive, informative, and he encouraged the
faculty to take the lead in determining future
college student assessment initiatives as part
of RPCC's ongoing Institutional Effectiveness
program. |
