JEDCO and Delgado River City Co-host Inaugural Manufacturing Summit

The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO) and Delgado Community College teamed up to host the inaugural Manufacturing Summit on Tuesday, October 1 at the Delgado River City Site & Advanced Manufacturing Center in Avondale.

The event featured a keynote address from LED Deputy Secretary Brad Lambert on the current state of manufacturing in Louisiana, a variety of panel discussions aimed to help manufacturers build their workforce and save their businesses money, networking opportunities, and a tour of the newly opened Delgado River City Site.

There were panels on education and training at all levels, an overview of the Mechatronics Apprenticeship Program, and cost-saving resources. Attendees heard from Jefferson Parish Schools, Delgado Community College, University of New Orleans, Louisiana Workforce Commission, Entergy eTech, the Reentry Program, Zatarain's, Laitram, Greater New Orleans, Inc, Westbank Business & Industry Association, and more.

Over 90 manufacturers, educators and business resource partners attended the event, creating new connections and opportunities for future partnerships.
