Recruitment and Outreach Hosts and Facilitates Key January Events

January 28, 2020

The Recruitment and Outreach Office has had a very busy January. We hosted a Family Night event On January 16th that provided workshops about college and options for funding higher education, with application and FAFSA assistance. A workshop was provided, “Debunking the myths of FAFSA,” and another on “Alternative options to funding your education,” and this session was provided in Spanish by Linett Luna Tovar, recruiter.

On January 25th the team provided a Preview Day to 80 attendees with campus tours, a faculty panel, application and FAFSA assistance, and a free lunch sponsored by the Student Government Association--followed by the women’s and men’s basketball games. Thank you to SGA and the faculty (Tom Dawson, Leslie Knowles, Charlie Schunick, Richard Vargas, Stephen Edwards, and Erin Schrepfer) for assisting with the panel, tours, and lunch!

We also tabled at the Jan. 18th and 26th New Orleans Pelicans games in the Smoothie King Center with the help of our R/O staff and Biology faculty members Charlie Schunick, Amanda Rosenzweig, and Marceau Ratard. This opportunity came through the partnership between Delgado and the Pelicans established by Delgado Communications and Marketing.

If anyone is interested in assisting the Recruitment and Outreach team with future events, please contact Nikki Dingle at ndingl@dcc.edu.
