River Oaks Hospital Establishes Nursing Scholarships

April 26, 2019

On April 6, Tiffany Manno, Director of Risk Management/Performance Improvement at River Oaks Hospital, presented a check to the Charity Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association for scholarships for students at Delgado Charity School of Nursing.

The check represents River Oaks Hospital’s commitment to provide a $1,000 scholarship every fall and spring semester to encourage nursing students to further their knowledge of psychiatric illness and treatments because psychiatric patients are seen at all levels of care.

Manno graduated from Delgado Charity School of Nursing in 2013 and received a scholarship from the Alumni Association as a student.

“Receiving that scholarships is a big reason I am where I am today,” said Manno. “It made all of the difference for me.  Continuing the Spirit of Charity, I am honored to present the River Oaks Hospital Psychiatric Scholarship on behalf of our CEO, Deagan Watson, and my colleagues. This $1,000 scholarship is meant to uplift a student's spirit as my spirit was uplifted when I received an Alumni Scholarship as a student.”

“As a behavioral health hospital, River Oaks hopes to raise awareness of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, promote mental health, and break down the walls of stigma surrounding mental illness,” said Manno. “We are proud to have this opportunity to give back to our nursing community which gives so much, not only to our hospital and patients it serves, but to our community as a whole every day.”
