Delgado Technical Division Launches Work Experience Program

September 18, 2019

This semester, the Delgado Technical Division launched its Work Experience program, designed to help students integrate their college coursework with meaningful work experience while earning college credit. The TDWE program expands learning through exposure to actual work situations, organizational relationships and hands-on learning.

On September 9, Technical Division students gathered at the Delgado Jefferson Site to hear a 30-minute presentation from Del Fernandez, President of Alarm, Detection and Suppression (ADS) Systems Contractors, LLC and Terry Casanova, Sales Manager at ADS. ADS has partnered with Delgado to provide work experience opportunities to students in Electrician programs.

TDWE provides many benefits to the employer, such as access to a pipeline of qualified and skilled workers upon completion of their academic program and an excellent source of year-round temporary personnel. For the student, TDWE offers an opportunity to gain experience in a real-world work environment and establish a connection with companies in their program areas which could lead to full time employment.
