The first-ever Delgado Music Festival is a new spring event presented by the Music Department of Delgado Community College in collaboration with Cutting Edge CE Conferences and Events. The free two-day festival on March 31 and April 1 will be the finale of a week of educational activities that include master classes and the Delgado Songwriting Contest.

The Delgado Songwriting Contest’s goal is to inspire and encourage the creative activity of songwriting. All entries are judged by industry experts based on content, style, originality and durability--does the song has what it take to stand the test of time?
Master classes will be conducted in studio engineering, vocal technique, composing for film, songwriting and music business. Classes are free and open to the public.
Music performances will take place on Delgado’s historic City Park Campus in the New Orleans Mid-City neighborhood. Artists scheduled include the legendary Preservation Hall All-Stars, Stanton Moore of Galactic, jazz vocalist Stephanie Jordan, the New Orleans Americana group the Iguanas, the high-energy funk/soul music of Naughty Professor, Baton Rouge bluesman Henry Turner Jr., the Delgado Jazz Ensemble, the Latin sounds of Michael Sinkus and more.
