A message from Chancellor Joan Davis
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Tamika Duplessis has been selected by the search committee to become the executive dean for Delgado Sidney Collier, where she has served as interim dean for the past year.
Dr. Duplessis was previously the department chair of Chemistry and Chemical Technology. She has been our valued colleague and an outstanding contributor to excellence at our College since arriving here in 2009. New and adjunct faculty have found her to be a valuable resource and mentor. Peers know her as a tireless manager and visionary leader. Students have benefited by her expert instruction and her work on their behalf with potential employers.
Dr. Duplessis has an impressive track record that includes earning her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a concentration in Biochemical Mechanisms of Cancer Etiology at Tulane University, where she worked on research teams studying the causes and possible treatments for breast cancer. Her undergraduate degree, in chemistry, is from Xavier University of Louisiana, where she collaborated with faculty to conduct cancer research after her postdoc at Tulane.
Delgado Community College is fortunate to have a leader of Dr. Duplessis’ caliber among our faculty. We look forward to helping her achieve excellence as Delgado Sidney Collier’s executive dean.
