Al Hamauei, Delgado Alumni Association President, has been appointed Chairman of the East St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce for 2016.
Hamauei is a Vice President in Commercial Banking for First Bank & Trust. He is a 1971 graduate of Delgado Community College in Business Administration.
The Chamber is the largest business organization on the Northshore, representing close to 1,200 businesses and over 35,000 employees. Advancing the general welfare and prosperity of the region so its citizens and business community shall prosper, the Chamber supports and creates opportunities to open doors for all business in the region.
The Chamber’s Board of Directors is a diverse group of business leaders responsible for setting policy, annual goals, providing committee leadership and ensuring adequate funding for the chamber.
Hamauei has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2011 representing the Lacombe area.
Hamauei has been active in the region since moving to the Northshore in 1968. He has served the Northshore community in many ways as Parish Councilman, Zoning Commission Vice Chairman, Slidell Memorial Hospital Chairman and as a board member of Community Action, United Way, Northshore Homebuilders, Friends of Harbor Center, Easter Seals, Rotary and many others.
He has been married to Mary Kay for 47 years. They have three sons and six grandchildren.
