The Delgado Community College Police Department invites the public as well as Delgado students, faculty and staff to attend their first-ever Night Out Against Crime event at the City Park Campus, 615 City Park. Ave., New Orleans.
The event at Delgado is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 18, 6 – 8 p.m. in front of Isaac Delgado Hall, Building 1. Free food and drinks will be provided.
Participants will be able to meet the members of the Delgado Police Department. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions, obtain information about campus safety and learn about the patrol strategies of the officers. Additionally, the Delgado Police Department will display their bicycles used for patrolling the campus, bullet-proof vests and new tactical training uniforms.
The Delgado Police Department has partnered with local law enforcement agencies, Crimestoppers and members of the community surrounding the City Park Campus to increase safety awareness in the neighborhood, said Delgado Chief of Police Julie B. Lea. As an official Night Out Against Crime participant for the first time, Delgado Community College plans to make this an annual event, she said.
“In addition to promoting safety awareness, Night Out Against Crime is a way to create and enhance partnerships between the college and the surrounding communities,” Lea said.
More than 38 million Americans in some 16,000 communities across the nation are expected to participate in the annual Night Out Against Crime.
