Delgado Community College is pleased to announce a new partnership with NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale. The new opportunity will allow Delgado’s Motor Vehicle Technology program to combine its classroom lecture with hands-on intensive training for its students on the NOLA Motorsports Park campus. Students will be able to apply their Delgado-acquired skills to hands-on projects on-site while using NOLA Motorsports’ state-of-the-art facilities, vehicles and industry technology.
Additionally, the agreement will allow Delgado and NOLA Motorsports to leverage local business and industry groups to pool their collective acumen and resources, which will enrich the students’ experience and could potentially steer participating students into career opportunities in motor vehicle and automotive services following their time at Delgado.
The partnership was made official Thursday when Delgado Chancellor Joan Davis and NOLA Motorsports CEO Francisco Christian inked a memorandum of understanding and transferred keys at the new Delgado-designated garage on the NOLA Motorsports campus. Davis and Christian were joined by Delgado Vice Chancellor Dr. Stanton McNeely, Automotive faculty and staff and members of the NOLA Motorsports Park staff.
Before the signing, Chancellor Joan Davis thanked everyone who made the new partnership a reality. “We’re extremely excited about this new partnership that will combine Delgado’s expertise with NOLA Motorsports’ amazing facilities and professionals, including some of the top names in the industry,” Davis said. “We’re confident that our students will benefit immensely from the resources that are being made available to them while we continue to cultivate these new relationships with our local business and industry partners.”
NOLA Motorsports CEO Francisco Christian adds, “Since the park’s inception, we have always believed in providing access to education and training at our world class facility. As the needs in the High Performance Automotive Industry continue to change, programs like this will allow for a funnel of certified technicians to all brands. We look forward to the continued success that Delgado has had in the region and are excited to add one more gem to the West Bank."
Delgado Automotive students will begin using the facility this summer.
