A new art exhibit, Perpetual Site, an installation by Ben Diller and Cynthia Giachetti, will run November 3 - December 1, 2016 at Delgado Community College's Isaac Delgado Fine Arts Gallery on the third floor of Isaac Delgado Hall (Building 1) at 615 City Park Avenue, New Orleans, La., 70119. An opening reception will be held 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016.
Perpetual Site is an installation about the preservation of nature, history and community. Materials from dwellings are repurposed and manipulated to serve as symbolic forms, communicating loss, hope, growth and renewal. This exhibit is asking viewers to pause and take time to examine and appreciate old structure, habits and ways we interact with our environment. The artists' wish is to preserve and protect the past for future generations. It is important to pass on the knowledge and material identity so that it will be cherished, respected and used thoughtfully for many years to come.
Ben Diller received his MFA in 2002 Studio Art from University of California, Davis and is an instructor/drawing coordinator at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La. Cynthia Giachetti received her MFA in 2007 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La. and is an art instructor at Baton Rouge Community College. They are both represented by Ann Connelly Fine Art.
