DELGADO 'IMAGES' LITERARY MAGAZINE WINS NATIONAL FIRST PLACE AWARD
The Community College Humanities Association has selected the 2008 issue of Delgado’s Images as the first place Small Budget winner for the Southern Division in CCHA’s national literary magazine contest.
The judges selected Images based on its exceptional conception and execution, including the degree to which it showed originality, creativity, depth of thought, complexity and understanding of the audience, as well as how the creators’ work exhibited control of the medium and understanding of the form.
Images 2008 was written, designed, illustrated and photographed as a Delgado Community College student team effort. Missy Diaz, Kathleen Joffrion and Tedd Walley were the project’s faculty advisors. Danielle Fabre and Casey Laws were the student art co-directors and production assistants. The student designers were: Philip Brandon, Kevin Comarda, Josh Daniel, Drew Dupont, Danielle Fabre, Treneka Jackson, Casey Laws, Amber Martinez, Horacio Molina, Hiliany Munguia and Peter Nguyen.
Page layouts were composed by the students as a Visual Communications Computer Graphics IV assignment on MacIntosh G4 computers with QuarkXpress 6.5, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop 7.0 software applications. The editorial content is composed of art and literary works solicited by the Images Committee, whose members are Delgado instructors: Janet McArthur, Lauren Tarantino, Missy Diaz, Nancy Richard, Monica Field, David Cook, Kathleen Joffrion and Tedd Walley.
