The Public Affairs and Information Office
handles all advertising for the College,
including institutional advertising
for registration periods, programs,
and events, and specialty promotion
and marketing collateral. If something
has the Delgado logo on it most likely
it originated through the Public Affairs
and Information Office. In fact, all
advertising and logo use promoting the
College and its programs must be cleared
and coordinated through our office.
Currently, several campaigns are in
place for the annual advertising plan,
including ads promoting grant initiatives
such as Delgado’s partnership with the
Louisiana Technical College District
1 Campuses for Shipbuilding and Construction
Trades. Traditional advertising promoting
applying for financial aid and registering
for classes support the college’s primary
mission. On occasion, particular programs
are supported with niche marketing and
advertising, where appropriate and applicable.
Developing the annual advertising plan
involves analysis of enrollment data
to determine target audiences, matching
these to the appropriate media outlets,
negotiating schedules and prices, crafting
the message and creative design, and
production for radio, television, and
print ads, billboards, bus boards, etc.
Any and all advertising is coordinated
to be consistent with the overall marketing
campaign strategy, using the chosen
themes, tag lines, and designs to communicate
effectively to our audiences. Post-Katrina,
the College has employed a “Come Home
to Delgado” theme to encourage our students’
return to New Orleans and their educational
paths. We’ve also used, and continue
to use in some instances, the theme
“Education that Works!” as reflected
on college stationery.
