Carol Gniady
Director of Public Relations
Carol Gniady is a New Orleans native
with many years experience in communications
and marketing. Prior to joining Delgado
Community College Carol was the executive
director of the New Orleans Film Society,
where she was responsible for managing
operations, fund raising, marketing,
and staging the annual New Orleans Film
Festival, Gala, and other events throughout
the year. Before taking the helm at
NOFS, she worked at Monkey Hill Records,
managing nationally distributed projects
for an artist roster including Cowboy
Mouth, Continental Drifters, The Bluerunners,
and many others. She had also served
previously as a manager at International
Marketing Systems, crafting and overseeing
regional field marketing and communications
programs for corporate clients, including
Texaco/Southeastern Region. Earlier
in her career she was WWL-TV Channel
4’s Creative Services writer/producer,
making commercials for local advertisers
and producing short programs including
the Saturday morning Kid’s News
show. Prior to working in television,
she served as promotions director for
WQUE AM/FM radio, developing listener-building
promotions and marketing programs, and
before that, she produced news and talk
show programs for WGSO AM News-Talk
radio. In addition, she covered the
local music scene as a columnist for
Wavelength magazine from 1984
to 1988.
Carol was a second chance student, obtaining
her B.A. in Communication Studies in
1990 from Loyola University (cum laude)
after having dropped out of college
and working for ten years in broadcasting.
She currently holds memberships in the
New Orleans Chapter of the Advertising
Club, the New Orleans Chapter of the
American Marketing Association, and
supports through memberships the Ogden
Museum of Southern Art, the New Orleans
Film Society, the Preservation Resource
Center, the Faubourg Marigny Improvement
Association, and the Louisiana SPCA.
Likes: local music, gardening,
Iyengar yoga, movies, Ogden after Hours
and art galleries, and patronage of
restaurants and businesses in the French
Quarter/Marigny/Bywater neighborhoods.
I like working at Delgado because …
… I feel as though I am helping my city,
and beyond, by reaching those individuals
who could best be served and whose lives
would most likely improve through the
training, education, and services offered
at Delgado.
If I won the lottery I would …
… create and market an education program
for responsible pet ownership, emphasizing
the importance of spaying and neutering
to control stray cat and dog populations.
If possible, I’d also give the necessary
funds to Delgado to renovate the theatre,
with an orchestra pit—how about
it, the Carol Gniady Theatre of Performing
Arts? I might quit my job, too, to do
more traveling and also invest in real
estate.
