CAMPIS: “Child Care Access Means Parents in School”
Parents of young children often face the extra burden and challenge of finding affordable quality child care while seeking higher education. State Child Care Assistance is often not enough to cover the cost of child care, and students are cut off unless they are working full time.
Our CCAMPIS grant can help. The U. S. Department of Education has funded an innovative program at Delgado to help students stay in college to complete their certificate or degree programs. We can reimburse needy students for a portion of their out-of –pocket child care expenses.
Our staff helps parents find child care in the community until our own Delgado Children’s Center re-opens at the City Park campus. Participating centers must be enrolled in the Louisiana Quality Star Rating program; Family Care Providers must be enrolled in the Federal Adult and Child Food Program. Our staff offers professional training and technical assistance to participating centers and providers to help them meet quality standards.
