Youth Occupational Skills Training
Youth Occupational Skills Training (YOST) in partnership with Jefferson Parish. Our YOST program prepares young people between the ages of 18-24 for high demand occupational training in various fields. The program is designed to prepare youth to be successful and encourage them to pursue post-secondary education and professional careers. The youth supported by our funding are motivated and want to reconnect with school or work, but face many barriers such as growing up in poverty or lacking the necessary education. Our investment helps disconnected youth get on a path to a successful career with the technical and life skills necessary to stay on course. Qualified participants of the program receive job placement assistance, goal attainment stipends, supportive services (gas card or bus tokens), job readiness seminars, and mentoring sessions.
High-demand occupational training for ages 18 through 24 and industry-based certified trainings are available for the following fields:
- Clinical Medical Assistant
- Career Pathways in Hospitality and Tourism
The trainings are free if you qualify.
Qualified participants will also receive:
- Job placement assistance
- Goal attainment stipends
