Computer Training
Computer Basics
This course introduces basic computer usage for non-computer majors. Emphasis is placed on developing personal basic computer skills. Upon completion, individuals should demonstrate competence in basic computer applications. Topics include identifying basic computer components and operating system features, identifying and navigating the features of the desktop, setting up a computer, how to connect to the internet, and computer safety and maintenance.
Mousing Around
This course introduces individuals to the computer mouse. This course is designed for individuals to become familiar with using a mouse. This course covers parts of a mouse such as the cord, scroll button, left mouse button, and right button, proper handling position, cursor, single clicking, double clicking, etc.
Keyboarding
This course introduces individuals to the keyboard. Keyboarding is designed to provide an opportunity to learn to touch type on the computer keyboard using correct techniques as well as development of speed and accuracy.
Microsoft Access
This course introduces individuals to Microsoft Access 2010. Topics include an introduction to databases, objects, managing databases, working with tables and forms, sorting and filtering records, designing a query, query design options, reports, modifying tables, and creating and formatting forms.
Microsoft Excel
This course introduces individuals to Microsoft Excel 2010. Topics include identifying and navigating the basic features and elements of MS Excel window, cell basics, modifying columns, formatting cells, creating simple/complex formulas, sorting/filtering data, using templates, working with charts, etc.
Microsoft Outlook
This course introduces individuals to Microsoft Outlook 2010. Topics include getting to know outlook, sending and receiving email, organizing and managing email, managing contacts and calendars, and collaborating with calendars.
Microsoft Power Point
This course introduces individuals to Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. Topics include getting started with PowerPoint, slide basics, test basics, applying and inserting themes, applying transitions, modifying lists, word art and shapes, modifying lists, inserting video’s and audios, working with tables and charts, etc.
Microsoft Word
This course introduces individuals to Microsoft Word 2010. Topics include getting started with Word, text basics, saving, modifying page layout, checking spelling and grammar, inserting clip art, working with columns and shapes, working with tables, working with headers and footers, etc.
