Faculty and Staff Resources
The Office of Student Accessibility Services provides accommodations to students who meet the Eligibility Requirements for Accommodations. To ensure all students are aware of the student accessibility disability services available to those who qualify, faculty publish the Course Syllabus Student Accessibility Statement in all course syllabi.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the College has established Faculty and Staff Guidelines: ADA Rights and Responsibilities related to serving students with disabilities. Individual instructors modify the methods, requirements, and procedures of courses and examinations appropriately to accommodate the special needs of students with disabilities, provided that the academic integrity of the course or examination is not violated, and the health and welfare of all students are safeguarded. See Faculty and Staff Frequently Asked Questions regarding Do's and Dont's for faculty and staff.
The instructor accommodates the student with a disability according to the accommodations appropriate for that particular course as recommended by the Student Accessibility Services Coordinator. Any adjustments to the recommended accommodations require the approval of the Student Accessibility Services Coordinator.
Accommodations may include but are not limited to: extended time in class and for testing, distraction-free/ distraction-reduced environment, readers, scribes, oral tests, assistive technologies, etc. Testing accommodations are provided as described in Accommodated Testing (Test Proctoring) Services. A full description of services provided is listed in the Office of Student Accessibility Services Description of Services.
