Full Mission Simulator Suite

The Delgado Maritime & Industrial Training Center is pleased to announce its new Full Mission Simulator suite, updated to state-of-the art in our new 18,750 sq. ft. educational facility.

This suite is comprised of three interactive Transas full-mission bridge simulators, with a simulation that can actually make you seasick. Simulators are used for Wheelhouse Proficiency classes to provide scenarios to experienced and aspiring ship pilots on how to navigate different kinds of vessels, from tugboats to barges. The simulator can place pilots in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, in the New York Harbor or on the Mississippi River among other locations.

These simulators can be set up to run three vessels at the same time for training purposes. The system has the ability to be set up for both conventional and Z-drive propulsion. Situations can be tailored to suit unique circumstances from running light boat in the Intracoastal Canal to pushing 30 loaded barges southbound in the Mississippi River with a 6,000 horsepower towboat.

Other training offered with the simulators include Z-Drive and TAP (Towing Assessment Program).
