Message From The Dean
The School of Construction Arts and Technical Studies (CATS) is entering an exciting new chapter as its programs move into the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
This transition brings together Delgado’s technical, construction, science, engineering, and technology programs into one stronger, more connected academic home. While the structure is changing, our commitment to students is not. We remain focused on delivering high-quality instruction, hands-on learning, industry-relevant training, and clear pathways to both employment and continued education.
Programs that were previously part of CATS will continue to build the design principles, methods, theory, and technical skills students need to succeed in their chosen fields. Coursework will continue to align with national industry standards and, where applicable, support transfer into accredited bachelor’s degree programs. Students are encouraged to meet with a faculty or academic advisor to choose the courses and pathway that best fit their goals.
Our faculty and program leaders are bringing real-world experience, industry knowledge, and a strong commitment to student success. Whether you are a dual enrollment student, recent high school graduate, returning student, or adult learner starting a new career path, you’ll find programs designed to strengthen your technical skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and workforce readiness.
Contruction, Industrial, and Applied Trades has long been one of Delgado Community College’s foundational schools. For over a century, its programs and faculty have trained generations of artisans, builders, technicians, designers, and skilled professionals across the Greater New Orleans region. That legacy doesn’t end here—it continues and grows within the School of STEM.
