Baton Rouge, LA -- Dec. 6, 2021

The LCTCS Family is saddened to announce the untimely passing of our friend and colleague Dr. René Cintrón. René was a loving and supporting father to his three amazing daughters Taylor, Carra, and Carlie. He was also a devoted advocate for the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. His innovative genius, forward-thinking nature, and influence on Louisiana’s Community and Technical Colleges will never be forgotten. René began his higher education career at Delgado Community College as an instructor from 2007 to 2015 until he was promoted to Assistant Dean, Business and Technology Division. He also served as Interim Executive Director of Planning and Research.

René's attention to detail and solutions-oriented personality aided him in his ascension through the ranks of the community and technical college system. René joined the LCTCS Board Office Staff in December 2015 as the Executive Director of Education and Research. In June 2017 he was promoted to Chief Academic Affairs Officer and in July 2018 he was promoted to Chief Education and Training Officer.

René's positive impact can be seen and felt in nearly every aspect of our organization. He challenged his team and his colleagues to think differently and to dream big. In each of his roles, René made sure the focus was on helping and improving the lives of people. His most important role however was that of being a Dad. During National Hispanic Heritage Month 2021, Rene shared his story and his "why". This self-reflection accurately depicts the person we have come to respect and admire.

René’s warm smile, loving personality, and sense of humor will be missed by all of us throughout the LCTCS and all those who knew him. At the appropriate time, LCTCS will honor the life and contributions of Dr. René Cintrón.

We ask that you keep René’s daughters and family in your thoughts and prayers.
