Delgado Offers Fast Track to Computer Information Technology Credentials

May 01, 2020

The Computer Information Technology program at Delgado Community College is making it possible for students to earn a Career and Technical Certificate (C.T.C.) in just 10 weeks this spring and summer.

Students seeking career-based education in web programming, application programing, information/security assurance, or cloud computing foundations can complete the certification by the end of July.

Students must enroll in the college’s new Maymester term by May 15 and take required classes in sequence through Summer Session, which ends July 29.

The C.T.C. credentials enable:

 --current information technology (I.T.) professionals to upskill in a new area;

--new students to get a jump-start on their associate degrees with a credential right at the start;

--career changers a chance to become credentialed in an I.T. field without the commitment of a full associate degree.

 Available C.T.C. credentials include:

 Cloud Computing Foundations C.T.C.

Learn the foundations of cloud computing – what is the cloud, why do we use it, and where it fits in the context of I.T. as a whole. Over the summer, students will learn the foundations of computer networking, information security, and cloud computing in the context of the information technology field.

Required Maymester Class: CMIN 204 Intro to I.T. and Systems

Students will begin in May with a crash course in programming logic and design--how to think like a programmer--and continue in Summer term to learn their first programming language, C++, a powerful language used in writing operating systems to game engines. Students will also learn how the computer networks and systems their programs run and must interact with design and function.

Required Maymester Class: CMIN 203 Logic & Design

Required Summer Classes: CMIN 204 Intro to I.T. and Systems, CMIN 214 Intro to C++, CNET 157 Network System Basics

Information Security/Assurance C.T.C.
