July 09, 2026

Delgado Community College hosted New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno, City Council members, elected officials, and civic leaders Wednesday at Delgado’s Maritime and Industrial Training Center as the City announced new initiatives related to economic development and expansion in New Orleans East.

The initiative is centered on two corridors, anchored by the Michoud Innovation Corridor and the Port and Logistics Corridor that will attract investment, infrastructure improvements, jobs, and services throughout New Orleans East in the years to come.

During the press conference, Delgado Community College Chancellor Larissa Littleton-Steib shared with officials that Delgado stands ready to partner with civic and local business and industry, adding “Delgado Community College is honored to partner with Mayor Moreno and the City of New Orleans on making New Orleans East the epicenter for innovation. Delgado’s existing programs span maritime, transportation and logistics, aerospace, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, warehousing, and other industries that align and intersect directly with the Michoud Innovation Corridor and Port and Logistics Corridor. Together, we have an opportunity to shape the future of these corridors by aligning education, workforce, innovation, and economic development strategies to drive investment, create jobs, and enhance the competitiveness of both the region and our respective institutions.”
