Fall 2023 RN Class First to Complete Program at the Ochsner Center for Nursing and Allied Health

The Delgado Charity School of Nursing Fall 2023 graduating class of 148 registered nurses is the first cohort to complete the program at its new location—the Ochsner Center for Nursing and Allied Health at the City Park Campus. The class began the RN program in Spring 2022 at the nursing school’s previous location in downtown New Orleans on S. Claiborne Avenue.

The graduates were honored in a Pinning Ceremony on December 11 and officially received their associate degrees at Delgado’s Fall 2023 Commencement on December 12.   

The Delgado Charity School of Nursing, founded at Charity Hospital New Orleans in 1894 and a part of Delgado Community College since 1990, is ranked #1 Associate Degree in Nursing program in Louisiana by College Factual.

Ochsner Health committed $20 million to expand Delgado’s nursing and allied health education programs to meet critical workforce demands and establish the new, state-of-the-art Ochsner Center for Nursing and Allied Health. Opened in April 2023, the facility, which houses Delgado’s Charity School of Nursing along with several allied health programs under one roof for the first time ever, accommodates up to 1,500 students and boasts 120,000 square feet of labs, modern classrooms, and a simulated hospital.

“To say that the Charity School of Nursing Class of Fall 2023 is exceptional would be an understatement. These graduates have successfully navigated through a myriad of unforeseen challenges, setbacks, and obstacles during the past two years without losing sight of their goals and aspirations,” said Dr. Joan Ellis, dean of the Charity School of Nursing. “Most importantly, they have made it through this journey with perseverance, excellence, and grace, which are all qualities necessary to succeed and thrive in nursing, as well as in life. We could not be prouder of this extraordinary class, and we sincerely congratulate all the graduates.”
