Delgado Offering High School Dual Enrollment Video Game Degree

March 21, 2023

The video game industry is growing in Louisiana and in the US as a whole, with job opportunities increasing locally and remotely.

In the US, video games generated approximately $49.68 billion revenue in 2021 and that number is projected to reach $75.39 billion in 2027 according to statista.com.

Delgado Community College is announcing updates to its Computer Information Technology Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) with Game Developer concentration. Beginning next year, high school students will be able to dual enroll in Delgado's A.A.S. Game Developer concentration--as part of the Fast Forward initiative, which will enable students to potentially complete the Associate degree by the time they have graduated from high school.

Additionally, Delgado’s Computer Information Technology program will offer Unity certifications which are Louisiana state-recognized Industry Based Certifications. For more information, please visit the Delgado website: www.dcc.edu/go/gamedev.

The Fast Forward program will prepare students for current and emerging professions that expose students to high-skill, high-wage and in-demand occupations. It will assist with establishing statewide industry or sector partnerships among local educational agencies and institutions of higher education, and facilitate the establishment, expansion and integration of opportunities for students to successfully complete coursework.
