Wendy Garretson Receives 2025 Excellence in Teaching Award

Delgado Community College proudly announces that Wendy Garretson, professor of nursing, is the winner of the 2025 Seymour Weiss Excellence in Teaching Award, the highest honor the College bestows upon faculty members. Garretson is the 46th recipient of the award, which has been bestowed annually since 1979.

Garretson, who has served Delgado for 20 years, was presented the award at Delgado's Spring 2025 commencement ceremony. 
 
"I am deeply honored to receive the Seymour Weiss Excellence in Teaching Award for 2025. I am so grateful for the opportunity to help prepare our nursing graduates to go out into professional practice and positively impact patients’ lives," Garretson said. "The greatest gift is when graduates share that they made a difference because of what they learned at Delgado."
