Louisiana Poet Laureate, Gina Ferrara, to Commence Role as Louisiana’s Literary Ambassador During a Special Preview Event on Nov. 4

New Orleans, LA — Delgado Community College, in partnership with The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH), will highlight the writings and accomplishments of Louisiana’s newest Poet Laureate, Gina Ferrara, at a special event on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Delgado’s Timothy K. Baker Theatre, located at 615 City Park Avenue in New Orleans.
Ferrara, who was recently appointed as the state’s 18th Poet Laureate, will mark the beginning of her two-year tenure with a poetry reading and a conversation moderated by Miranda Restovic, LEH’s Executive Director and President. The discussion will explore Ferrara’s vision as Louisiana’s literary ambassador and her role in inspiring communities across the state to engage with poetry. Ferrara will also participate in a Q&A session with guests.

About Gina Ferrara
Gina Ferrara is an Associate Professor of English at Delgado Community College. She
has five poetry collections: Ethereal Avalanche, Amber Porch Light, Fitting the Sixth Finger: Poems Inspired by the Paintings of Marc Chagall, Weight of the Ripened, an Eyelands Poetry Prize Finalist, and Amiss. Her work has appeared in numerous journals, including Callaloo, The Poetry Ireland Review Tar River and The Southern Review, and was nominated for a Best of the Net and a Pushcart in 2024. Since 2007, Ferrara
has curated The Poetry Buffet, a monthly reading series in New Orleans.
